The history of the Lapland Lodge Taiga Forest Lodge
Taiga Forest lodge is an over 100 year old timber house built from timber taken from the surrounding forest. Life in Swedish Lapland, above the Arctic Circle was tough and challenged the inhabitants in their everyday life. The houses were built sturdy & with thick logs to keep the cold out when the temperature dropped.
Our ancestors worked in the forest all summer to cut and drive the logs home with horse and cart and then, with the help of relatives, build these fantastic log buildings with room for the whole family. The wingspan of history shines through in the interior of the house and reminds of the people who created and lived in this Arctic part of the world for hundreds of years.
Welcome to take part of the history and be amazed of the ancestors amazing craftsmanship.
We would love to hear from you!
